Your treatment doesn't end when you leave the clinic. These leaflets cover the essentials for the days that follow - and your personal aftercare advice, given at your appointment, always comes first.
Choose your treatment.
The first 24 hours
- Keep the area clean, and avoid touching or massaging it.
- No makeup over treated areas for at least 12 hours.
- Stay upright for 4 hours after anti-wrinkle treatments.
- Avoid alcohol, vigorous exercise, saunas and sunbeds for 24 to 48 hours.
What's normal
Small bumps, redness, tenderness or light bruising at injection points are common and usually settle within a few days. Results develop gradually - anti-wrinkle treatments take up to 14 days to show their full effect.
Contact us immediately if you notice blanching (white patches), mottled or dusky skin, increasing severe pain, or any change to your vision. Use the emergency contact details from your appointment, at any hour.
The first 48 hours
- Expect redness like mild sunburn for 24 to 48 hours.
- No makeup for 24 hours; clean hands and clean pillowcases.
- Avoid active skincare (retinols, acids, vitamin C) for 72 hours - gentle cleanser and moisturiser only.
- No swimming, saunas or heavy exercise for 48 hours.
Sun protection
Your skin is extra sensitive to UV while it heals. SPF 50 every day, and avoid direct sun exposure for at least a week.
Contact us if redness worsens after 48 hours, or you notice spreading heat, swelling or weeping - signs an infection may need reviewing.
The days that follow
- Flaking or peeling typically starts around day 2 to 3 and settles within a week. Never pick or peel the skin yourself.
- Gentle cleanser and plenty of moisturiser; nothing active until fully settled.
- No makeup until any broken skin has healed.
- Avoid heat, steam, swimming and exercise for 48 hours.
Sun protection
SPF 50 daily is essential - new skin burns and marks easily. Avoid deliberate sun exposure for at least two weeks.
Contact us about any blistering, severe or spreading redness, or signs of infection.
After your appointment
- Follow any personal instructions given at your appointment - they take priority over this general guidance.
- If a dressing was applied, keep it clean and dry as advised.
- If a lesion was treated, expect some redness or a small blister - keep the area clean and let it settle without picking.
