This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies are, which ones this website uses, why we use them, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to skinformedclinic.co.uk and is operated by SKINFORMED, Neath, Wales. It was last updated in July 2026.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device (computer, tablet or phone) when you visit. They help websites work properly, remember your preferences, and —on many sites — understand how visitors use them. This policy also covers similar technologies such as local storage, which saves small pieces of information in your browser in much the same way.
Cookies can be “first-party” (set by the website you are visiting) or “third-party”(set by another company whose services the website uses). They can be “session” cookies, deleted when you close your browser, or “persistent” cookies, which stay on your device for a set period.
The types of cookies websites use
Strictly necessary —essential for a site to function: security, logging in, remembering consent choices. These don't require your consent under UK law.
Functional — remember preferences like language or region to improve your experience.
Analytics — help website owners understand how visitors use their site, usually in aggregate.
Marketing — used to show relevant advertising and measure ad performance, often across multiple websites.
What this website actually uses today
We believe in only collecting what's needed. At present, this site uses strictly necessary storage only:
- Secure sign-in cookies (names beginning sb-, set by our database provider Supabase)— used solely when the clinic owner signs in to the private content dashboard. Ordinary visitors browsing the site are never signed in, so these do nothing for you beyond existing. They are session-based security cookies.
- Your cookie choice (a local storage entry named sf-cookie-consent) —remembers the answer you gave on our cookie banner so we don't ask you again on every visit. It stays until you clear it or change your choice.
We do not currently use any analytics, advertising, social media tracking, or profiling cookies. There is no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no TikTok pixel on this site.
Third-party services you may click through to
Some parts of this website hand you over to trusted third parties, and once you're on their pages, their own cookies and policies apply:
- Stripe —when you buy a gift voucher, payment happens on Stripe's secure checkout pages. Stripe sets its own cookies for security and fraud prevention. See Stripe's privacy and cookie policies on their website.
- Our booking system —appointments are booked through Aesthetic Nurse Software's portal, which operates under its own policies.
- Social media — the Instagram, Facebook and TikTok links in our footer take you to those platforms, which use cookies extensively under their own policies. Simply visiting our site does not set any social media cookies.
If we ever add optional cookies
If we introduce optional cookies in future —for example, analytics to see which pages help people most, or advertising pixels to support the clinic's marketing— they will only ever run if you chose “Accept all” on our cookie banner. Choosing “Essential only” keeps every optional cookie off, and this policy will be updated to name exactly what was added and why.
The law behind this
In the UK, cookies are governed by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) alongside UK GDPR. In short: strictly necessary cookies may be set without consent; everything else requires your clear, freely given agreement first —which is exactly how our banner behaves. Where any cookie involves personal data, our Privacy Policyexplains how that data is handled and your rights over it, including the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Managing and deleting cookies
You're in control. You can change your choice on this site at any time using the button below — the banner will reappear on your next page so you can answer differently:
You can also view, block, and delete cookies through your browser settings — look for “Privacy”or “Site data”in the settings of Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox, or Samsung Internet. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of some websites working, though on this site it would only affect the owner's dashboard sign-in.
Changes to this policy
If our use of cookies changes, this page will be updated and the“last updated” date revised. Significant changes — like introducing optional cookies —will also mean the consent banner asks you afresh.
